Mary Jane Burke nee Burton was my Grandma Burke. Hello Grandma you died before I was born but my sister Joan told me stories about you. I was so jealous I wish I could have met you. You were a very strong lady. Grandma brought up 8 children more or less on her own. I am told Grandpa would come home and get her pregnant and leave. When my Dad and his brothers were old enough they told him not to come back. I am lucky enough to have an article you wrote for a magazine to see how strong you were.
This is a photo of my Dad Maurice Burke he was a kind and gentle man. Dad was a plasterer he married Mum Alma May Julia Bailey. They had 4 daughters and one son. Dad was always there for us and I remember when I was naughty he would say to Mum its just a stage she is going through. Now I look back I see we were a poor family but I didn't notice it at the time. Dad passed away when I was 21 I still miss him dearly. I love doing my family tree and I am sure he steers me in the right direction when I cannot find that elusive record.
This is a photo of me at my sister Joans wedding I am the baby of the family. Mum and Dad must have thought their nappy days were over then I turned up. I have been lucky enough to have some lovely old family photos which I treasure. I am very strong and I always think I get this from my Grandma Burke. Thankyou Grandma with love Lynnie XXXOOO
