It was the wedding of John Rosenthal and Josie Berg, June 4, 1971. I saw Judi in the reception line and tried to make small talk. She gave me a look and then the cold shoulder. At the cocktail party, Danny Fogel brought her to introduce her to me. I did not interup my conversation to acknowledge her presence. All of a sudden she seems friendly.
During dinner, her parents Elma and Al are hoping she connects with the banker sitting next to her as opposed the guy with the wavy hair, mustache, and mutton chops.
The band plays on, the drinks are flowing. I catch the garter and Judi catches the bouquet and my mother Sylvia takes the mic from the band leader (Mark Davis) and annnounces to everyone that this will be her new daughter-in-law. Judi turns and replies, "But lady, you don't even know me!"
Such is the wisdom of my mother. Six months later we were married.
