The story was told to me that because of her bow legs that someone in the west end started calling her “Bowens”, then the next generation Peetie and Sissy, called her Aunt Bowens and when Harry came along he called her what they in turned called her “Aunt Bowens.”
I will bring it to work and scan it and e-mail it to you.
The older folks, like Elbert called her “Baby Sister”, ask Mom. Remember she was the baby sister for a long while before the next crew of Carl and Annie’s children showed up on the scene.
It was her siblings that adopted the Bowens nickname. Harry, is the one who created “E” from Willie and he called Aunt Bowens what he heard the older cousins calling her.
