While staying over Mark's parents house over Thanksgiving. Mark's father, Bob Hurd, rubs Melinda's thigh while she was sitting on the couch with a short skirt.
Mark's father has had an ongoing history of inappropriately touching women (relatives and coworkers). And in spite of playing "keep away" all night, this was the final straw for Melinda. She threw his hand off, he let out a muffled "sorry", and she stormed off to the guest room.
Not believing Melinda, Mark seeks to information from a "neutral third party" to determine that his father's level of affection is completely normal. He posts anonymously on the Reddit community, r/relationships.

Melinda begins looking for therapists.
My husband and I are searching for a family therapist and I stumbled across your website. As a mixed race (Asian/white) woman married to a white male, one of the issues that we are having is him understanding my anxiety following the presidential election and my concern for our 1 year old daughter (who looks just like me). I was the victim of a hate crime when I was 11 years old so the rise in hate crimes has me very shaken up.
We were originally looking for a therapist who was also a person of color but I'm finding that to be difficult in the Denver area.
We also have issues with my in laws and how I confronted my father-in-law on Thanksgiving when he inappropriately touched me (grabbed my thigh) and the backlash from my extended family of me trying to establish consent rules for my daughter . My in laws had a very authoritarian parenting style and my husband is coming to terms with his fear of them and how his father inappropriately touches pretty much everyone in their family.
I know you specialize more in the LGBTQ community, so please let me know if our situation is something you can help with or if you can point me in the right direction to someone who also "gets it".
Thank you so much,Melinda Hurd"
